Tuk Tuk
So your heading to Chatuchak Weekend Market but you want to try something new. Well, grabbing a Tuk Tuk should be first on your list to find out the real Thai experience! Here is all the information you need to know about getting a Tuk Tuk to JJ Market.
A Tuk Tuk is a common method of transport in Thailand. It is a motorcycle with a small carriage attached. The customers sit in the back carriage on a small bench which fits between 2-3 people with the driver sat on the motorcycle. Within the Tuk Tuk, there is netting, bars and a roof for your safety in the carriage but there are no seatbelts just like many taxis in Bangkok.
Tuk Tuks can be more expensive as they are more of a novelty to tourists rather than a taxi. There is not metre inside a Tuk Tuk so you will need to barter for your fare. Depending on where you are staying, the fare can range from 100-350 Baht from central Bangkok. You can ask your hotel concierge to agree on a price for your fare or if you need help with bartering, head to our How to Barter page for more.
Tuk Tuks can be a fun way of getting around Bangkok so we advise you travel on one during your stay even if it isn’t to the market. Have any further questions on Tuk Tuks or getting to the market? Contact us at hello@chatuchakmarket.org or take a look at our Blog!
